The 1920’s French film called Construire Un Feu (To Build A Fire) was based on a Jack London story and directed by Claude Autant-Lara. The movie was shot using a lens developed by French astronomer Henri Chrétien and was patented as the Hypergonar process. This process became the basis for the CinemaScope technique which became popular in the 1950’s.
