The Invictus Games was launched in London in 2014, inspired by the Warrior Games held in the United States. The name ‘Invictus’ comes from the Latin meaning ‘unconquered’. The event is for wounded, injured armed service personnel and veterans who compete in sports such as wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball and indoor rowing.
