FACT FOOD #918

Nicholas Roerich was a Russian painter who spent his last years in India. One of his famous paintings happens to be ‘Guests from Overseas’ (1901). It describes the arrival of Varangians (Greek and Slavic name for Vikings) to the Rus land, which forms the territories of modern Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. As per some of the records, the Vikings lived in these territories under the leadership of Rurik (9th century A.D). Is there any connection with the names Rurik and Roerich? there could be!!!
