The Motion Picture Production Code was popularly known as Hays Code, a set of rules established to govern the making of motion pictures in Hollywood. It was enforced during the 1930s until 1968 when the new MPAA film rating system took over. Hays Code was named after Will H. Hays, the president of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America from 1922 to 1945. Kissing in a horizontal position was prevented and also, kisses could not last longer than 3 seconds.
