In 2001, on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Louis Armstrong, New Orlean’ main airport was renamed Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The airport was initially named after the aviator John Moisant as Moisant Field. Later, it was changed to Moisant International Aiport and then to New Orleans International Airport.
