In Greek mythology, Urania is known as the ‘muse of astronomy’. In Zurich, a public observatory exists which is named after Urania. The observatory was commissioned in 1899 and became operational in 1907. There is a busy street called ‘Uraniastrasse’ that is close to the Urania observatory and passes through Zurich’s busy Bahnhofstrasse.
