FACT FOOD #847

The bony lump below the kneecap is one of the common knee pains found in adolescents who are actively pursuing physical activities. The cause is because of the growth spurt wherein the leg bones grow quicker than the quadriceps. This condition is called Osgood-Schlatter Disease (OSD) named after the American orthopedic surgeon Robert Bayley Osgood and the Swiss surgeon Carl B. Schlatter.
