R.J. Reynolds is a name that is closely associated with the American tobacco industry. The R.J.R Tobacco company started in 1875 after Richard Joshua moved to Winston, North Carolina from his home Virginia. The art of tobacco cultivation was a family trade and Richard used this knowledge and combined with the advantages North Carolina provided (land and railway system) to establish a well known tobacco company.
