Sir Bobby Charlton, in an interview clarified how Theatre of Dreams came about to Old Traffod – “Geoffrey Green, a good friend of mine, was a journalist for The Times and he came to interview me before a big game. I’m sure he said ‘it’s a theatre of dreams’ when referring to Old Trafford – he was a great pal but a bit of a romantic! And then I saw that somebody had mentioned the Theatre of Dreams and would use it as a description of the stadium. It’s very nice because it is the Theatre of Dreams. It’s marvellous when you watch people as soon as they come into the stadium and take it all in.”
