The origin of the name ‘Aleppo’ is uncertain, however popular evidences point out that the city’s name comes from the Arabic word ‘haleb’ (to give milk) as it was in that location, Abraham gave milk to travellers as they moved in that region. Aleppo was the third largest city when it was under the rule of Ottoman Empire.
