FACT FOOD #779

Juventus, the Italian club team was formed in 1897. In their intial years, the players had pink shirts with a black tie. The continual washing of the shirts made the colour to fade away. At the behest of the management, an Englishman, John Savage who was one of the Juventus members, asked his friend from England to supply new shirts. His friend was a supporter of Notts County, shipped their black and white striped shirts. Since 1903, the colours have remained with Juventus to this day.
