Ali Mao Maalin, a cook and health worker from Somalia happens to be the last person recorded to be infected with smallpox. He made a full recovery after having contracted the disease in 1977. Since then, no person has developed Small Pox as per the records of the World Health Organisation, which certifed the global eradication in 1979.
