The Robe was a 1953 Biblical epic, although uninspiring to say the least, this movie became the first fiction feature film in 20th Century Fox’s CinemaScope. CinemaScope, a technique first developed by Henri-Jaques Chretin, a French physicist, who used a special lens that would spread the image over a larger area than the normal screen.
