The word ‘coventrate’ has entered the lexicon after the German annihilation of Coventry City during World War II. In 1940, German bombers unleashed their fury destroying buildings and killing many people during the raid. The verb ‘koventrieren’ came into German language meaning ‘to annihilate or reduce to rubble.’
