Aldus Manutius was a Italian publisher and a printer who lived his life between 1449 and 1515. His legacy in the publishing industry is revered to this day, as it was him who invented the ‘italic’ cursive font, established the modern use of semicolon and the appearance of comma. In order to encourage more people to read, he create ‘octavo’ format, that could fit in a pocket, and resembled the modern pocket book.
