Ernest Taylor Pyle (Ernie Pyle) was one of the best known war correspondants that earned him a Pulitzer Prize in 1944. He lost his life in Japan when the enemy opened fire at an American Regiment, with whom Ernie Pyle was at that time. There are many tributes paid to Pyle, one such happens to be the character of Arnie Pye, a recurring character reporter in Simpsons.
