The cartoon character Huckleberry Hound, the dog with a South American accent appeared on the The Huckleberry Hound Show. At the 1960 Emmy Awards, the show was awarded with an “Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Children’s Programming’, the first animated series to be bestowed with such an honour. The character Huckleberry Hound was inspired from Huckleberry Finn, a reference to Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
