Vincenzo Peruggia was an Italian thief and chiefly responsible for the cult following of Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting ‘Monalisa’. On 21 August 1911, Vincenzo stole the painting from the Louvre museum, took it to Italy and was finally caught in Florence in 1913. The painting returned to Louvre and since then, thousands of visitors have been flocking Louvre to get a glimpse of Monalisa.
