If you observe closely at the centre of the Brazilian flag, you will notice the blue sky and stars. That is actually the representation of the sky at its then capital, Rio de Janiero as seen at 8.30 pm on 15 November 1889. Raimundo Teixeira Mendes is credited with coming up with the motto and designing the new flag.
