The world’s only high velocity impact crater (till date) formed on a ballistic rock is located in Lonar, Buldana district, Maharashtra, India. Geologists estimate that, the crater formation was through an meteor impact. According to the recent Argon-argon dating, the crater is about 570,000 years old with a correction factor of 47,000 years. Presently, Lonar Lake which lies in this impact structure has a mean diameter of 1.2 km.
