The word brandy is derived from the Dutch word brandewijn, which translates to “burnt wine.” This popular post meal drink is created by distilling wine. The Brandywine Creek located in Pennsylvania, the site of a Revolutionary War battle in 1770s, was named by the Dutch for the color of its waters resembling brandy.
