Lascaux is a UNESCO Heritage Site located in France (Dordogne). This place is famous for its cave paintings, containing art works from the Paleolithic era. The experts reckon, the wall paintings are estimated to be around 17,000 years old. The entrance to the cave was discovered in 1940 by a teenager named Marcel Ravidat. Since then, there have been constant challenges from heat, humidity, fungus, and other contaminants. The cave is now closed for public and alternatively, many of the replica can be viewed at Lascaux II, a gallery for visitors, which is close to the caves.
