Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema had made a short film, in order to finance his ambitions of making a feature-length film. In 1910, he planted some peas in a pot and placed a camera in front of it. As transformations took place in the seeds, they were filmed by ‘one-turn’, ‘one-block’ method for which purpose, the camera was kept firmly fixed in one place where it would not be even slightly disturbed, for one and a quarter months. Actually while viewing this short film on the screen, it lasted for about one and a quarter minutes. It showed the seed growing, sprouting and changing into a climber.
