Toys ‘R’ Us is an American toy and children’s products company founded by Charles Lazarus in 1948. It is headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey. Founded initially as Children’s Supermart in Washington D.C, the company gained fame post WW II during the baby boom era, firstly as a baby-furniture retailer and then baby toys were added. The name Toys ‘R’ Us came into effect in 1957 with Geoffrey the Giraffe selected as the mascot of the company.
