The former head of the CIA operation, E. Howard Hunt went to great lengths to obtain the film rights of George Orwell’s book ‘Animal Farm’. The CIA had chosen Animal Farm as a means to propagate the ‘Anti-Communist’ feelings that prevailed in America in the 1950s.

After George Orwell’s demise, the rights of the book were with his widow Sonia Orwell and as a part of the deal with the CIA, Sonia Orwell requested that she get to meet her idol, Clark Gable; which the CIA happily arranged.
