Colonel Sanders is the face of KFC. The name ‘Colonel’ was awarded by the state of Kentucky, a title of honour bestowed upon him in 1935 while he owned a gas station-adjacent restaurant Sanders Cafe. It was the ‘Colonel’ name, he used extensively to market his fried chicken restaurant in the 1950’s. Harland David Sanders was his real name and he was born the in the state of Indiana and not Kentucky.
