Letty Lynton, one of Joan Crawford’s famous roles, essays the title character in this 1932 movie of the same name. The movie went to be a huge hit and became famous for a dress worn by Letty in the movie – a white cotton (organdy) gown with large ruffled sleeves and puffed at the shoulder. Since 1936, the movie has been unavailable due to a Federal court ruling which alleged MGM to have used the script (without acquiring the rights) similar to the play ‘Dishonoured Lady’ by Edward Sheldon and Margaret Ayer Barnes. This ruling has only enhanced the cult status of the movie and particularly noted for the fashion craze it created in America.
