Baron Haussmann is best known for the renovation of Paris in the 19th century. After the Industrial Revolution in France, the emperor Louis Napolean III wanted to develop Paris into a modern city. Among other things such as roadways, sewer systems, public facilities and buildings – Haussmann and his team of architects were the brains behind the creation of arrondissements (districts) within the city of Paris.
