The case Champakam Dorairajan vs. State of Madras in 1951 was regarding admissions of backward classes to educational institutions. Led by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the then Law Minister of India, this case brought about the first amendment to the Indian Constitution, which came into effect in 1950.
