Saint Lucia is one of the island country located in the Caribbean Sea. The island was named after Saint Lucy of Syracuse by the French, the island’s first European settlers. Saint Lucy/Lucia was a young Christian martyr and she is revered as a saint in the Christian world. On December 13, her feast day Saint Lucy’s Day is celebrated in the western world.
