Mulligatawny is the name given to the English soup with Indian flavours. The name comes from the Tamil words mullaga and thanni, which translates to ‘pepper’ and ‘water’. This resembles another Indian dish, namely ‘rasam’, which is usually served with rice. Since the time Mulligatawny made its way into English culture, the recipes have been improvised keeping in mind with different taste buds in the Western world.
