Elizabeth Magie was the brains behind the board game ‘Monopoly’. In 1904, the game was introduced as “The Landlord’s Game” – where the game showcased the nature of renting and real estate. Thirty years later, and after several variations, Charles Darrow took the game to Parker Brothers, claiming as his own. Sense prevailed when Parker Brothers recognised the original creator and offered her $500 for purchasing the game, an offer which she accepted.
