Parle Products, an Indian private company is famously known for its biscuit brand Parle-G. The company was set up during the time of British India in 1929 by the Mumbai based family of Chauhans primarily selling confectionery products. Biscuits started only a decade later at the start of WW II in 1939. The name Parle comes from Mumbai’s suburb ‘Vile Parle’ where the manufacturing unit was located. Among the Indian biscuit brands, Parle G is readily recognised for its iconic white and yellow wrapper and the young girl mascot. The young girl is an illustration created by an agency (Everest) in the 1960’s. The letter G was re branded to Genius in 2004 to replace Glucose.
