Susan B. Anthony, an American social reformer and a feminist, played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement in the 19th century. In 1872, she was fined $100 dollars and arrested for voting in her hometown elections at Rochester, New York. She didn’t pay the fine and neither did authorities press any further charges. She didn’t give up on the voting rights and in 1878, Senator Aaron A. Sargent introduced the amendment giving women the right to vote and 41 years, the Congress approved it and in 1920 this became the nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Susan B. Anthony wasn’t alive by the time amendment came through.
