Ameen Sayani, one of the most popular voices of Indian radio joined All-India Radio in the 1950’s after having recommended for the job by his brother Hamid Sayani. He helped popularize Radio Ceylon in India. Sayani appeared in movies like Bhoot Bungla, Teen Devian, Boxer, Qatl etc in the role of an announcer. For fifteen years, Sayani helped his mother Kulsum Sayani in editing the journal Rahber, published in three languages (Hindi, Urdu and Gujarati) fortnightly for neo-literates, started by Mahatma Gandhi.
