Shakespeare’s Othello written in the early part of the 17th century is loosely based on the tale titled ‘Un Capitano Moro’ written by the Italian novelist Giovanni Battista Giraldi more popularly known as Cinthio. It is also stated that, both the plays resemble ‘The Tale of the Three Apples’, a story from One Thousand and One Nights.
