Edward Bellamy, one of the famous American authors of the 19th century has the distinction of first proposing the idea of payment cards (in his book “Looking Backward”) which we popularly know today as “credit cards”. In 2011, Vuz Bank on its 20th anniversary dedicated a monument in the honour of a ‘credit card’. The name engraved on the monument is that of Edward Bellamy and this is located on the corner of Bankovski alley and Malyshev street in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
