The stage actor Krishna Bhanji changed his name to Ben Kingsley after he feared a non-English name would hamper his acting career. Born to a Gujarati father and an English mother, Ben Kingsley earned his first international fame for portraying the title role of ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ in the 1982 Oscar winning movie ‘Gandhi’. The initials of his professional name are reversal of his original name.
