Euglossa bazinga is a species of bee found in Brazil. It was named in 2012 by the biologists André Nemésio and Rafael R. Ferrari. They chose the name after Sheldon Cooper’s (fictional character from The Big Bang Theory) favourite comic word ‘bazinga’ – which he uses when tricking someone. On parallel lines, Euglossa bazinga has tricked the biologists due to its similarity to Euglossa ignita.
