Harmandir Sahib more famously known as the ‘Golden Temple’ is the holy place for Sikhs (also known as Gurudwara) and is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. The holy text of Sikhs ‘Guru Granth Sahib’ is present inside the temple during daytime and is kept in a separate room during the night. The upper floors of the temple is covered in gold and more than 100,000 people visit this place each day. Keeping the tradition of Sikh gurudwaras, a community kitchen serves free meal (langar) to all those who visit.
