M, a fictional character in James Bond series and is the head of the secret intelligence service MI6. The creator Ian Fleming based most of the character on his superior while at the navy Intelligence Service, Rear Admiral John Godfrey. The real name of M is Admiral Sir Miles Messervy KCMG and this was revealed in the final novel of the James Bond series, The Man with the Golden Gun. In the screen versions, the full name of M has never been revealed till date.
