Punch a drink made both alcoholic and non-alcoholic was a drink brought from India by employees of British East India Company. This term was recorded for the first time in 1632. The word Punch comes from the Sanskrit word ‘paanch’ (meaning five) as the drink was originally made with just five ingredients: alcohol, sugar, lemon, water and spices or tea.
