FACT FOOD #234

Lamborghini Murciélago, designed by Luc Donckerwolke is a sports car introduced by Lamborghini in 2001. This design was the first new car after Lamborghini had been bought by the German company Audi under the umbrella of Volkswagen. Lamborghini has a tradition of naming their cars after the famous fighting bulls. Murciélago is named after a fighting bull that survived 24 sword strokes in an 1879 fight against the matador Rafael Molina Sánchez. And BTW, Murciélago is the Spanish word for the mammal ‘bat’.
