Samuel Clemens better known to the world as Mark Twain sailed on a expedition to Europe and Holy Land on 8 June 1867 from New York. His trip became the basis of the book ‘The Innocents Abroad’ or ‘The New Pilgrim’s Progress’, which was published in the year 1869. This book became one of the best-sellers during Mark Twain’s era and one of the best travel books of all time.
