In the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the British author Douglas Adams states that, a towel is the most important item a hitchhiker can have. He also mentions that “to know where one’s towel is” means to be in control of one’s own life. As a tribute to the author Douglas Adams, his fans celebrate ‘Towel Day’ every year on 25 May. On this day, fans carry a towel with them to showcase their affection towards the author and his books. This celebration was carried out for the first time in 2001, two weeks after his death on 11 May.
