Munnar was a summer resort of British government in South India is situated in the Western Ghats range of mountains. It is 1600 m (5400 ft) above sea level. It is pronounced “Moon-aar” meaning “Three rivers” in Tamil and Malayalam referring to its location at the confluence of the Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers.
