Clio Awards was started by Wallace. A. Ross in 1959 to recognize creative excellence in American advertising awards programs, with permanent representatives in 39 countries. The award was named after one of the nine muses in Greek mythology, Clio (Kleio). Clio, in Greek mythology means ‘to make famous’ and is considered to be the muse of history.
