Formerly known as Milestone Mo-tel and created in 1925 by architect Arthur Heineman – this establishment happens to be the first ‘motel’. ‘Motel’, a portmanteau of words ‘motor hotel’ became very popular with the emergence of automobiles in the USA. It is now renamed as ‘Motel Inn of San Luis Obispo’ and is located in California.
