Pi Day is an annual event which commemorates the mathematical constant π (pi). It is observed on March 14, since the digits 3, 1 and 4 are the first three significant numbers of π in its decimal form. The earliest known celebrations was organised by Larry Shaw in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium. The exploratorium continues this day to hold the Pi Day celebrations.
