Hiram Bingham was an explorer and later a polictian from United States is known famously for making public the existence of Quechua citadel of Machu Picchu in 1911 with the help of local farmers. After being appointed as a lecturer in South American history at Yale University, he organised the 1911 Yale Peruvian Expedition with the objective being to search for the lost cities of Incas. Machu Picchu is one of the seven wonders of the world.
